Interfaith Fraternity Camping

Warsaw, Poland · Since 2025

An international, content-driven interfaith overnight retreat bringing together youth and experts from diverse religious backgrounds for deep dialogue and community life.

Interfaith Fraternity Camping is a specialized residential program organized under the Interreligious Dialogue Platform (Platforma Dialogu Międzyreligijnego) of Dunaj Instytut Dialogu, in cooperation with the Fraternity Circle initiative. Held at venues like Mariapoli Fiore in Wilga, this international weekend retreat moves beyond traditional academic panels into a lived fellowship. It creates an immersive, supportive environment where participants from different faith traditions—primarily Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—live, learn, and reflect together under one roof.

The camp gathers a dynamic group of university students, researchers, dialogue volunteers, and future religious leaders, alongside a distinguished panel of international theologians, sociologists, and experts. The intensive program features structured Scriptural Reasoning sessions, academic seminars, and interactive workshops. Key topics of reflection include human dignity, moral foundations in religious traditions, inner freedom after trauma, grassroots dialogue, and historic milestones in coexistence—such as celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Nostra Aetate declaration.

This practice matters because it bridges theoretical interfaith theology with active, shared community life. By spending two full days together sharing the same physical space—eating, drinking, participating in programs, and sleeping in shared accommodations—participants experience a profound breakdown of social barriers. This immersion transforms "the other" from an abstract concept into a real peer and friend. The camp tackles sensitive modern ethical issues and social challenges, empowering the younger generation to discover shared values, combat prejudices, and return to their local communities as active ambassadors for peaceful coexistence.
